MoCap Lab Audio Set-up

Motion Capture Lab Audio Set-up #

The Motion Capture Lab is fitted with a 12 channel audio system. This is attached to Workstation 8 in the Lab, which can be connected to the projector.

The audio system uses 12 Genelec speakers, arranged carefully around the room. This makes in an ideal space for testing and prototyping audio before it is used in SIML, as well as experimenting with audio for other research.

The audio system will not work with any of the other machines, and you should not attempt to attach it to them.

Audio Switcher #

This audio switcher is set up to switch the two speakers at the top of the projection between two modes. The two modes are:

  1. Speakers 5 & 7 in the surround sound set-up, which is run by workstation 8.

  2. Left and right channels for the projector.

To switch between the modes, simply hit the input button to go between A & B. A is mode 1, B is mode 2.

Troubleshooting #

If you can hear both the audio from the projector and from the surround sound set-up, this is because the switcher only changes the input for speakers 5 & 7. To prevent this from happening pause the input coming from workstation 8.
